This study aims to identify the effectiveness of a counseling program at the level of mothers awareness by the housing needs of children in early childhood, and the problem is to measure the degree of mothers awareness by the needs of their children's at this stage, and the appropriateness of this housing units in Jeddah in its present state to the needs of children. The study follows the descriptive, analytical, experimental, and the applied approaches, the sample includes (241) with one or more children within the family in early childhood stage and in nurseries at Jeddah, 30 samples were taken and the counseling program were applied. The most important results showed that the highest percentage of mothers (sample of study) by their housing needs before implementing the program were between medium and low level of awareness, and their is a proportional correlation between mothers awareness by the housing needs of their children and some social, economic variables for their families (age of parents, education level, profession, years of marriage, and the average monthly income of the family), while there is a negative correlation between mothers awareness by the housing needs of their children, and the number of family members and there is no correlation between their situation and the social needs of their children. It was obviously clear that there are some factors affecting mothers awareness such as (education, age, years of their marriages, career), respectively. There are a significant difference between scores of pre and post application in the level of awareness by the housing needs of their children for the benefit of the post, and it clear that the impact of the applied counseling program was of great effectiveness and raise mothers awareness. Finally, the study recommended the need of raising awareness in the family providing the presence of a special room for the child and choosing the appropriate furniture at this age in terms of size, shape, color, and distance from the raw materials that proves an adverse effect on child health and the environment and its replacement by natural raw materials. |
